Data Collection Application

Surveyor use this app to capture the journey, select/feed route information. Adding to this surveyor also collect the boarding/alighting data (includes male/female count) and can review /amendment route

Driver Application

The Driver app will be used for data generation. Since it’s used by the drivers, no interaction required during the journey. Before the journey starts, the route number and the vehicle number will be selected. During the journey, the app will keep on sending it’s location information to a server address at regular intervals, and on a map it’ll show it’s current location. This data provides the following: Actual route information of the different route numbers Buses running in different routes at any instance of time Real time location information of the different buses

Commuter Application

The commuter app will be used by the normal commuters who are using the bus service regularly to commute to and fro between their residence and their place of work. Commuters should be able to see which are the buses approaching his current location (or a chosen location) within a certain period of time (say 10 mins) along with the current locations and information (route no, ETA, etc) of those buses. Commuters, looking for a particular bus route should be able to see the different buses of that route on the road in real time, along with their ETAs to the different stoppages along the route

Route Creation & Editing

Routes are created due to various reasons, the main of which are on intuition or perception on people’s boarding speculation.

  • Analytics comes into play from the very inception in capturing the boarding and disembarking pattern and finding out the regular and sundry population
  • Analyzing the pattern against different parameters like time, gender ratio, important stoppage sets, bus types, fare structure and other parameters is essential information that needs to be portrayed and published for feedback.

Route Rationalization

Rationalization of bus services is thus an on-going exercise to achieve the objectives of enhancing bus operation efficiency while meeting passenger demand,reducing traffic congestion and roadside emission, having regard to the changes in passenger demand and the opening of new transport infrastructure.

The Process

Data Collection

Using the data collection application, all the route information stored in the central database. Also using the driver application, real time data of the buses are captured.

ETA Prediction

Using this data, the commuter app plot the moving bus positions on real time. It can predict the expected arrival time of the bus along with many other useful information.

Crowd Sourcing

This is the next level initiative by the community of travelers - a voluntary social initiative that would create a social habit down the line over the years.


Time Analysis

Using the driver application, the Time duration to move from one stop to the other, the stopping time in every stop and the route diversions are being captured and fed to the control room.

Real-time trip planning

Default screen automatically detects where you are and shows busses on the map going through near by road. Also long press on a bus shows you ETA of all stoppages of that bus

ETA Prediction

Commuter have the pictorial version of the map with the moving bus positions on real time which help them to decide which bus they might want to choose from what position, at what time.

Crowd Sourcing

commuter would inform a online community of their existing position and would be informed by the map her coordinates vis-à-vis the buses in the neighborhood
